Victorian silver Ivy and Heart padlock brooch, 9ct gold, Aesthetic

A beautiful antique, Aesthetic era silver and gold sweetheart brooch.

This brooch is stacked full of symbolism and is aesthetic era design at its finest.

Superbly crafted with a central sterling silver heart shaped padlock atop a trail of silver branches, the branches decorated with yellow and Rose gold ivy leaves.

It represents an everlasting love, locked tight to the heart and was probably given as gift to symbolise the love of one to another.

It has an old C type clasp and pin fastener.

Fully hallmarked for sterling silver, Birmingham assay office, 1892, maker Arthur Johnson Smith.
