Antique Spider pendant necklace, Amethyst and Pearl, 9ct gold
Antique Spider pendant necklace, Amethyst and Pearl, 9ct gold
Spider lover or not you are bound to fall in love with this wonderful antique spider and spider web pendant.
The spider and spider web motifs are much harder to find in pendant form with most adorning brooches, the Victorian's began somewhat of an obsession with insect and animal jewellery and this continued on through the Edwardian era and into the Art Deco period.
You can see why as they make for wonderful jewels!
This pendant is crafted in a lovely rich 9ct rose gold and the spider is set with a beautiful deep purple, pear cut Amethyst and a tiny creamy seed pearl.
The contrast of the rich gold works well with the vibrant purple stones making for a very luxe feel.
It comes on a later vintage 9ct yellow gold fine trace chain, finishing off the look perfectly!
Spiders have been used in jewellery for many centuries though with ancient examples aplenty, they have many meanings too from; resourcefulness, cunning, good luck, happiness and hard work, wisdom and craftsmanship, plus many, many more.
