Antique Scottish silver brooch, agate and amethyst
Antique Scottish silver brooch, agate and amethyst
An attractive antique silver, Scottish agate brooch.
Scalloped edge sterling silver mount with finely engraved detailing, the outer rim set with alternating panels of agate in rich warm tones.
To the centre of the brooch there is a highly detailed thistle, the leaves stretching out to the sides, the top of the thistle is mounted with a small, rough amethyst stone, this appears to be a replacement and usually you can find cairnorgm or citrine but the amethyst works very well in the thistle.
It has an old C type clasp fastener.
Condition:
Good used condition overall, tiny nibbles to the agate, general signs of use and surface wear commensurate with age, Amethyst is a replacement
Unmarked, Scottish make c1870s
