Now this is a true showstopper of antique ring if you ever did see one!
Late Georgian era this magical beauty features an almost starburst like cluster design, the centre housing a rich deep green emerald in a collet set closed back setting surrounded by an incredible halo of old Mine cut diamonds.
There is a further halo of gorgeous pinky red rubies finishing off this ring to perfection.
It has a later 18ct yellow gold shank and gallery with a smooth d profile band.
It is a ring to be noticed, one to take centre stage and make an impression, a delectable heirloom piece.
This would have been commissioned for someone very wealthy at the time and you can imagine it sparkling under the low court lighting at the finest of balls.
Marks and era:
Stamped to the band 18k, band is a later replacement, Ring head and stones Georgian era c1800s.
Condition:
Good used condition overall, minor surface wear, commensurate with age, some nibbles to the stones, two rubies replaced with paste, gallery and shank replaced later.
Ring face Approx 16mm length and 2mm band width.
Diamonds - old Mine cut, approx 0.65ct total, H-K colour, SI1-P1 clarity.
Emerald - Naturally occurring Jardin visible to the naked eye, closed back setting possibly foiled, very approx 0.80ct estimated in setting with restrictions due to the closed back.
Rubies - Ungraded due to setting, mixed cuts, good colour, presumed untreated but not tested, two paste replacements, one Ruby with a crack.
