Antique Georgian Amethyst and Cannetille work brooch, 18ct gold, Acanthus Leaf

You cannot help but be charmed by this luxurious antique Georgian Amethyst and cannetille worn brooch.

There is something extra special about antique
cannetille pieces, the tiny details and the hours of work that went into creating such delicate and elaborate designs.

Rich 18ct gold gives a warm glow to this piece with the rich golden leaves scrolling outward, intercepting the fine gold cannetille work and the lovely vibrant Amethyst stones.

The stones are foil backed and set into an array surrounding the main centre stone, the large oval centre stone has light warm hues from the foil backing.

It has an old C type clasp and pin fastener this is a replacement of the original buy stil in keeping with style, later 19th century.

A well made brooch with lots of fine detailing.

This brooch can be worn in many ways and is an attractive and versatile piece, it would look great adorning a lapel or cravat or even securing your favourite antique long chain.

The brooch is unmarked, c1800s, late Georgian era, tests as 18ct gold to most areas with some reverse areas testing as 9ct.
