This Victorian era Garnet cross pendant is simply beautiful, crafted in 18ct yellow gold it is set with six individual flat cut garnets.
The cross has a slightly skewed shape being hand crafted and this adds to its wonderful character and charm.
This is a Mid-Victorian piece and would look great hung from an antique gold chain or a black velvet choker necklace.
You just don't find garnets like this in modern day jewellery and this piece is as wearable today as it was back then.
Marks and era:
Victorian era, c1860s, unmarked, electronically tests as 18ct gold.
Condition:
Good used condition overall with signs of wear and use, commensurate with age, some light surface wear, tiny nibbles to the facet edges, cross sits slightly skew.
Approx measurements:
1.5" length with bale
0.80" width
2.88 grams weight
Garnets approx 0.60 total ct weight.
