This beautiful antique Victorian sterling silver locket pendant is so pretty and sweet with its attractive enamelled floral design.
It features a meticulously hand painted white rose to the front with leaves and foliate.
It has a large, integral bale and internally there is space for two pictures or tiny keepsakes such as a lock of hair, the inner frames marked with the lion passant for sterling silver.
To the reverse the locket is profusely engraved, with leaves and is fully hallmarked.
This is perfect for adding to your favourite long chain or necklace.
Queen Victoria carried a bunch of white roses when she got married to Albert, they are seen as a symbol of loyalty, youth and purity.
Marks and era:
Victorian era, fully hallmarked for sterling silver, Birmingham assay office, 1880, makers mark JF&S.
Condition:
Fair used condition overall, some age commensurate wear and signs of use, surface wear, some scratches and a sizeable chip to the enamel at the front, a few small dings to the reverse.
Approx measurements:
1.25" width
2" length including the bale.
