You can't help but be charmed by this impeccable antique, Art Deco diamond and Ruby snake ring.
Coils of rich, buttery yellow gold form the body of this fine fellow which curves around the finger effortlessly, the head resting at the top and loaded with wonderfully sparkling old cut diamonds.
The diamonds really set this piece apart and provide a beautiful shimmer to the ring on movement, there are five old cut diamonds, beautiful large cutlets and tables with an approx 0.50ct weight, G-H colour and SI1 clarity.
The snake has a happy and inviting face and these are always my favourite, he has lovely vibrant Ruby eyes.
This is a substantial piece, exceptionally well made.
The snake ring although seen and loved in earlier jewels was catapulted into popularity when Queen Victoria received a snake ring from her beloved Albert, this set off somewhat of a craze in the latter half of the 19th century all the way through the early 20th century and beyond!
Marks and era:
Fully hallmarked for 18ct gold, Birmingham Assay office, 1920, makers mark GFF.
Condition:
Good used condition overall, signs of use and wear commensurate with age, light surface wear, stones are good with minor surface wear.
Ring face Approx 16mm length, back of the band Approx 7mm width
Total weight: 7.54 grams
UK/AU ring size Q½
