Antique 9k gold Jerusalem cross pendant, engraved

This sweet antique, 9ct gold Jerusalem Cross pendant is truly unique being hand cut by master jewellers from the past.

A scarcely seen design for a pendant the Jerusalem Cross also known as the five fold cross is a revered and historical cross, a variation was also used as the cost of arms for the King of Jerusalem from the 13th century.

Traditionally it is a cross shaped like this pendant with four smaller crosses surrounding.

It is thought to represent Christ along with the four evangelists but also has other known symbolism such as spreading the word of Christ to the four corners of the globe.

It is a dainty cross perfect for adding to a dainty gold chain or pairing with other small pendants and charms for a maximalist look.

As this has been hand cut the cross is slightly skew if you look carefully, this really adds to its antique charm.

It has a beautiful engraved front and a smooth reverse bearing the hallmarks.

Marks and era:
Fully hallmarked for 9ct gold, Birmingham assay office, 1909, Edwardian era.

Condition:
Good used condition overall, some surface wear and signs of use commensurate with age, cross is slightly skew from hand cutting.
