You can't help but be charmed by this gorgeous vintage double snake ring.
Coils of rich 9ct Rose gold form the body of these handsome intertwined snake friends, the heads are modelled at the face of the ring with the snakes both having pear cut garnet set heads.
This is a nice chunky piece, made in the Victorian revival manner, much like the earlier Victorian designs, it is smooth and weighty and very comfortable to wear.
The snake ring was catapulted into popularity when Queen Victoria received a snake ring from her beloved Albert, they were popular tokens of love and snakes in the Victorian era symbolised eternal love.
Snakes were of course used in jewellery much earlier than the Victorian era though with the ancient Egyptian's believing they had the power to cure and heal.
