A gorgeous chunky Victorian sterling silver cuff bangle.
Pretty aesthetic style engraving featuring flowers, foliate and a swallow in flight, the engraving spans across the front of the bangle bordered by low relief silver designs, it has a plain back.
The swallow in Victorian jewellery representing amongst other things safe passage and returning home from travel, perhaps a gift from a sailor to his love as a promise to return home.
Chunky 1.25" width with a wavy rim, push catch opening and a safety chain.
Fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1883, Joseph Whitten or possibly James Wheeler as both Jewellers registered an almost identical mark at the same time.
Condition:
Very good used condition overall, light surface wear / patina, commensurate with age and use.

7.25" circumference, would best fit a wrist of 6.75" - 7"
