A beautiful antique, Victorian mourning brooch.
It is made from gold and black enamel with a glazed hairwork panel that has a halo of seed pearls.
The brooch has a black enamel ground with pretty scrolling gold accents, the glazed panel contains a lock of tightly weaved dark hair.
The reverse tests as 9ct gold apart from one side which supports the pin this is made from brass, the fastener has been replaced with a safety style fastener.
It has a base metal pin and a tiny loop attached to be worn as a pendant.
Condition:
Good used condition overall, one replacement fastener, light wear commensurate with age.
Unmarked tests as 9ct gold to the reverse in part, English, c1880s
