An incredible antique sterling silver vesta case with skull decoration.
Smooth high polished sterling silver with an applied carved skull decoration with plenty of realistic detailing.
This rare and unusual design was extremely popular and has been replicated over many years and still continues to be copied in modern designs to this day.
This is a genuine antique treasure, crafted from solid sterling silver, a nice sub substantial vesta, fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1913,makers mark for Robert Chandler.
Full hallmarks can be found on the inner rim of the case with short hallmarks struck on the outer lid.
It has an integrated striker built into the base.
It has an attached stamped silver jump ring for attaching to an, Albert or even worn as a pendant as displayed in the photo, the listing is for the vesta only, it does not come with a chain though chains can be purchased in the shop separately.
These special memento mori style cases are particularly scarce and highly sought after.

0.25" depth
Weighs approx 32.70 grams
Condition:
Good used condition overall, some dark patina internally, tiny ding to the front of the case below the skull, light surface wear commensurate with age and use.
