An attractive and interesting antique, late Georgian era mourning brooch.
The brooch has a pendant loop so could be worn as a pendant and is made from 9ct Rose gold with a border of creamy seed pearls and a central glazed compartment.
The glazing is set back from the gold rim and is very lightly convexed, there are a few strands of hair visible beneath the glazing.
It is a very attractive rhomboid shape, it almost provides an optical illusion type effect and is a popular shape among collectors due to its unusual form.
Unmarked, tests as 9ct gold, late Georgian era c1800s.
Condition:
Good used condition overall, signs of use and wear commensurate with age, some tiny dings, some debris visible under the glazing.
