This antique gold cased seal fob is simply charming!
Made from 9ct yellow gold cased metal, possibly a low grade silver and metal mix, early Victorian era, it has an elaborate design with an almost wrythen pattern base and scrolling arches.
The base is set with a crisp white Chalcedony, the matrix, carved with a small Scottish thistle and the words Dinna Forget, translating from Scottish dialect this means do not forget and this is thought of as a romantic sentiment, the poem Dinna Forget Me was a Scottish poem of love and the thistle has been the national emblem of Scotland for centuries.
This beautiful antique seal has a chunky gold plated jump ring attached so is ready to be hung from your favourite antique chain necklace or Albert chain.
Such a sweet little antique seal fob, so versatile and can be worn in many ways from an Albert chain fob to a pendant.
Marks and era:
Unmarked, 19th century, c1850s, Victorian era, tests as 9ct gold plated / cased, some areas testing as low grade silver below 800 so likely a metal mix
