A most beautiful and elaborate Victorian era ladies chatelaine style Albertina or watch chain.
The body is made up from 5 strands of different linked chains, belcher, rope and foxtail, the chains are linked with large decorative silver plated spacer beads including a large oval one to the centre, engraved with flora.
The chain has a small silver plated chatelaine hook and a jump ring, it fastens with a dog clip fastener on one side and a spring ring on the other and has a further pretty sterling silver tassle suspended from it.
In albertina terms this is a real beauty, so very well made with incredible detailing.
Suspended from one end is a fine silver ladies fob watch, this is not currently working and feels overwound though it does make from a beautiful decorative piece, it has a white enamelled dial with applied stars.
Parts of the albertina test as sterling silver, the tassle and some of the chains, others are silver plated, it is unmarked, the watch is hallmarked for fine silver, London import c1900.
Being 10.5" length it is unlikely to go comfortably around the neck but it could be utilised as a bracelet or kept as a watch chain.
Condition:
Good used condition overall, overall patina and age commensurate surface wear, fob watch not working and heavily patinated to the silver.
Total weight 52.03 grams collectively
Approx measurements:
Oval spacer - 0.75"
Chain - 10.5" total length
Watch - 1.25" diameter
