Antique Scottish banded agate brooch, Victorian
A stunning antique, Victorian era, Scottish banded agate brooch.
Rich Black banded agate carved into an oval with scalloped edges and a cut out centre.
It has silver shell shaped prongs holding the agate and a sterling silver centre rim which is lightly engraved.
The agate is smooth and highly polished with fine bands of white and brown.
It has an old C type clasp, the pin is a base metal, the reverse mount is silver plated and the small shell shaped prongs and centre rim are sterling silver.
Condition:
Good used condition overall, tiny nibbles to the agate, missing some of the silver prongs but still held strong, general signs of use and wear commensurate with age, there are some small white flecks to one side of the stone.
