You can't go wrong with a beautiful antique seal fob, this heavy and substantial antique gold cased seal fob is a real versatile beauty.
Made from 9ct yellow gold cased metal, possibly low grade silver, early Victorian era, it has an elaborate design with a well crafted lyre top and a chunky chased and engraved base with acanthus leaves overlapping one another.
The base is set with a cool white Chalcedony, the matrix, carved with initials in gothic script, possibly AW.
This beautiful antique seal has a chunky gold plated jump ring attached so is ready to be hung from your favourite antique chain necklace or Albert chain.
This is such a lovely elaborate example with the lyre top, very nicely designed with lots of fine detailing and is a large sized fob.
Marks and era:
Unmarked, 19th century, c1850s, Victorian era, tests as 9ct gold plated / cased, some areas testing as low grade 900 silver
Condition:
Good used condition overall, signs of use and wear commensurate with age, light wear, some silver coloured metal showing on the corners / edges
