A beautiful antique, Georgian era mother of pearl and silver quizzing glass pendant.
Worn usually around the neck on a ribbon or chain for ease of use, these beautiful decorative pieces really were a functional piece of jewellery.
This quizzing glass has a sterling silver frame that rotates outward and can be stored safely behind the pretty mother of pearl panels.
This is a magnified quizzer.
It is unmarked, tests as sterling silver, English make c1790s, late 18th century.
Perfect for adding to your favourite antique chain or neck mess or wearing with a nice plain black ribbon.
Worn by both men and women of the period.
Condition:
Very good used condition overall, some light surface wear commensurate with age, very light marks to the lense, two tiny chips on the outer edge of the mop.
Approx measurements:
2" length with bale (closed)
1.4" pendant width closed
1.25" lense diameter
