You cannot help but be enchanted by the beauty and emotion of this stunning antique Georgian mourning band ring.
The ring is a very rich 22ct yellow gold, enamelled in black with white enamel bands top and bottom.
The words picked out in gold tell us this mourning band was created in memory of Jane Brock, Aug 1798, Ae 82.
Jane Brock previously Jane Peers married Jeremiah Brock, a wealthy clothier and landowner from Essex, coming from a long line of clothiers with a rich peerage, Jane's more distant relatives had interest in the puritan movement from the Nottidge lineage through her husband.
Her father was William Peers.
This is an 18th century piece with full British hallmarks for 22ct gold, rich in history and over 225 years old.
There is no finesse mark as this was not used in the period and the lion passant was used until 18ct gold was later reintroduced.
A remarkable piece.
Marks and era:
Fully hallmarked for 22ct gold, Bust of King George, makers mark IP and date letter for 1798.
Condition:
Good used condition overall, some age commensurate surface wear, some crazing and minor nicks to the top of the band and enamel, very well kept.

US ring size 8
MM ring size 57.6
