This spectacular antique Silver cross pendant hides a special feature, it is not only a gorgeous antique pendant but also a Propelling pencil.
An unusual design, very well made by a renowned manufacturers of the era Sampson and Mordan.
It has has an all over engraved design and is shaped like a cross, there is a small slider to the front which allows you to extend the pencil section.
Marked on one side Mordan and on the other with a Victorian era diamond registration mark, it is always a pleasure to find pieces bearing the diamond reg marks.
This is a fine example of how the Victorians implemented beauty and style into everyday functional objects.
Marks and era:
Marked Mordan for maker, diamond reg marks dating to c1870s, partially worn, tests as sterling silver.
Condition:
Good used condition overall, some surface wear and signs of use commensurate with age.
Total weight 5.24 grams.
Approx measurements:
1.75" length with bale
0.70" width
2.5" length extended
