Antique Victorian Micro Mosaic flower brooch, 9ct gold
An attractive and well detailed little antique micro mosaic brooch.
A 19th century Grand Tour piece it depicts a nicely done image of a floral display the tesserae set into a rich inky black glass which resembles black onyx.
The floral display is beautiful with a wide array of colours, these Grand Tour pieces hailing from Italy were created for the tourist market but some fine examples also made it into the fine jewellery world and they were highly sought after both then and today.
It is mounted into a simple 9ct yellow gold frame and has an old c type clasp and pin fastener.
Marks and era:
Mid 19th century, Italian make, unmarked electronically tests as 9ct gold, pin and fittings are both base metal.

0.80" width with pin
0.60" length
Condition:
Good used condition overall, one or two tiny ceramic tesserae missing, hard to notice, small nibbles to the black glass where the mount meets the glass, small chip to lower right side of the black glass near the frame, scratches to the reverse.
