A superb antique Edwardian era, silver, gold and paste crescent brooch.
A beautiful piece it features two owls sitting on top of an open silver crescent moon.
The owls are finished with an applied 9ct gold front and both have paste stone eyes in red and green.
An unusual, beautiful and scarce piece.
Crescent moons were a popular motif in Victorian and later Edwardian jewellery, they are attributed to a number of meanings from feminine strength to changes or new chapters.
Owls symbolise many things including wisdom.
The brooch is Unmarked tests as sterling silver, owls have an applied 9ct gold front, c1900s, Edwardian era.
It has a C type clasp and pin fastener.
Approx measurements:

0.5" height
Weighs approx 3.15 grams
Condition:
Good used condition overall, signs of use and wear commensurate with age, reverse was gilded in the past but this is worn.
