Antique French festoon necklace, garnet and pearl, silver gilt, 19th century

A beautiful and decadent antique French festoon necklace in silver gilt with natural freshwater pearls and garnet.

Such a grand yet delicately made piece at the same time.

It is made up from a series of delicate filigree work links with an ornate central filigree drop in a teardrop shape.

These links are held together with individual 3 row belcher chains.

Within the beautiful scroll work sections there are garnets and seed pearls, giving a subtle flash of colour against the rich golden gilt.

It is unmarked silver gilt, tests as as silver throughout, the pearls are delicate with a nice creamy lustre and the garnets have a pinky red tone.

It has a hidden clasp for a seamless look which is a hook type fastener.

Condition:
Overall condition is very good, there are abrasions to some of the pearls and slight wear on the gilding.

A beautiful heirloom quality piece ready to be loved and worn again.
