This charming antique, Victorian turquoise double snake ring in 18ct yellow gold is both unusual and alluring.
Coils of rich, buttery yellow gold form the body of these handsome intertwined snake pals, the heads are modelled at the face of the ring with the snakes both having a rich green turquoise cabochon set in.
This is a beautiful piece, exceptionally well designed and it unusually has partial hallmarks stamped to the outer of the ring.
Turquoise is a less common stone used in snake pieces and the natural tones really lend themselves well to the natural botanical feel of the snake ring.
Snakes in jewellery were catapulted into popularity when Queen Victoria received a snake ring from her beloved Albert.
Marks and era:
Fully hallmarked for 18ct gold, Victorian era, London assay office, 1892, Maker S Bros.
Condition:
Good used condition overall, signs of use and wear commensurate with age, light surface wear and slight thinning of the band to the back, previous resize evident, some wear to the claws.
Ring face Approx 7mm length, back of the band Approx 2.8mm width
