Spider lover or not you are bound to fall in love with this wonderful antique spider and spider web pendant.
The spider and spider web motifs are much harder to find in pendant form with most adorning brooches, the Victorian's began somewhat of an obsession with insect and animal jewellery and this continued on through the Edwardian era and into the Art Deco period.
You can see why as they make for wonderful jewels!
This pendant is crafted in a lovely pink hued rose gold and the spider is set with two beautiful light blue Aquamarine stones.
The contrast of the pink metal works well with the vibrant blue stones and is an interesting combination.
Spiders have been used in jewellery for many centuries though with ancient examples aplenty, they have many meanings too from; resourcefulness, cunning, good luck, happiness and hard work, wisdom and craftsmanship, plus many, many more.
The central aquamarine is a good colour and is a nice vibrant stone with an approx 0.25ct
Marks and era:
Edwardian era, c1900s, marked on the reverse for 9ct gold and makers mark.
Condition:
Good used overall with signs of use and some light surface wear commensurate with age.
Approx measurements:
1.40" length with bale
1.10" width
1.66 grams weight
