A truly stunning antique Georgian era mourning band ring.
Crafted in rich aged antique 18ct gold, it is a wide band style ring with an engraved and carved inner band.
It has a textured engraving to the centre recess and the words In Memory Of finely sculpted within the gold, these have not been enamelled as is commonly seen and retain a rich golden patina.
There is a slim band of black enamel to the top and bottom rim of the band subtly highlighting the theme of death.
The inner band is engraved with the inscription: Tho's Dous Ob 27th Dec 1805 Ae 24

English make, early 19th century, Georgian era.
Fully hallmarked for 18ct gold, London Assay office, 1815, with the bust of King George III
Condition:
Good used condition overall, some age commensurate surface wear morseo to the inner band.
