A very beautiful antique Georgian Garnet and Pearl brooch.
This is an elongated oval shaped brooch, perfect for securing a fichu or lace ruffle at the neck.
It is crafted in rich 18ct yellow gold and set with a row of deep rich red, flat cut Garnets in a closed back setting, the Garnets have a lovely purple tinge and these types of garnets are synonymous with the Georgian era.
The brooch is finished off beautifully with a halo of creamy seed pearl.
It fastens with an old c type clasp and pin fastener.
As good quality Georgian brooch ready to be loved and worn.
Marks and era:
Unmarked, electronically tests as 18ct gold, Georgian era, C1800s.
Condition:
Good used condition overall, surface wear and signs of use commensurate with age, light surface wear and abrasion to the gem facets, some minor nacre loss.
Approx measurements:
