A gorgeous antique, late Victorian, 9ct gold and pearl crescent and Dragonfly brooch.
A beautiful closed crescent in rich 9ct yellow gold with a wonderful pearl set dragonfly sat across the moon.
This is really a piece packed with symbolism with both the moon and the dragonfly, both very popular symbols in Victorian jewellery.
Crescent moons were a popular motif in Victorian jewellery, they are attributed to a number of meanings from feminine strength to changes or new beginnings / chapters.
Dragonflies also represented change and transformation along with strength and courage making this a strong symbol for change.
