A gorgeous antique, Edwardian era 18ct gold and bloodstone signet or seal ring.
This gorgeous ring has an unusual design in that the shoulders are styled in a similar way to a keeper ring, nice and chunky the bear way to a round bezel set bloodstone.
It has rich gold tones and a band that tapers down from the shoulders.
The bloodstone has not been carved so this ring could be personalised with a crest or initials to make a special gift.
It is fully hallmarked for 18ct gold, Birmingham assay office, 1908.
Signet rings derive their name from the Latin for signature, they were popular throughout history in men's jewellery and were often carved with family crests or signatures and used as stamps or intaglios, later they remained popular as a fashion choice and they have remained a popular piece of mens jewellery since their creation.
Suitable to be worn by men or women.
Condition:
Good used condition overall, some surface wear and surface scratches commensurate with age, some dulling / surface rubbing around the edges of the bloodstone.
Approx weight: 3.60 g.
Ring face approx 14 mm length / 8mm width, 3mm band width at the back.
UK/AU ring size H
US ring size 3.75
