An attractive vintage, Art Deco era 9ct gold and carnelian signet ring.
Thick and chunky tapering yellow gold shoulders with a large oval carnelian set to the front, a lovely deep orange / red stone, un-carved so could be personalised with a crest or monogram.
It is a chunky heavy piece, very well made, the inside of the band has been hand engraved with the nickname Little Jo.
Signet rings derive their name from the Latin for signature, they were popular throughout history in men's jewellery and were often carved with family crests or signatures and used as stamps or intaglios.
It is marked 9ct 375, c1920's
Condition:
Good used condition overall, some light surface wear and some surface scratches to the gold, commensurate with age, a nice rich patina, one tiny nick to the stone.
Approx weight: 5.75g.
