A beautiful antique Victorian mourning brooch.
Early to mid Victorian this brooch is a rounded rectangular shape with a glazed front compartment enclosing very tightly woven light brown hair.
It has a border of creamy split pearls and is set in 9ct yellow gold.
A classic Victorian mourning piece, full of sentiment, great as part of a collection or adorning a lapel.
Pearl's were known to represent tears in mourning jewellery.
It has an old c type clasp and pin fastener.
Unmarked, tests as 9ct gold, Victorian era c1860s.
Condition:
Good used condition overall, signs of use and wear commensurate with age, some tiny dings to the reverse, pin is base metal.
