An attractive and unusual silver lucky horseshoe brooch,
It features double horseshoes in an S shape along with various leaves including oak leaves.
Made in the Victorian era by Burrows and Mills, Birmingham assay office 1893.
Horseshoes were a prominent feature in Victorian jewellery and they were considered a symbol of good fortune.
Depending on which way up the horseshoe was symbolised different meanings one for flowing good fortune in amd one for warding off bad, this brooch features two both facing the opposite way so providing fortune and protection.
It has an old C type clasp fastener.
Condition:
Good used condition overall with signs of use and wear commensurate with age.
Approx measurements:
1.35 " width and 0.5" height
