An attractive and rare antique, Victorian era sterling silver vesta case with an inset compass.
This vesta is a good size with a smooth polished finish, the front set with a working compass, internally it has full hallmarks to the rim and short hallmarks within the lid, it retains the original gilt lining.
The lid is hinged and snaps shut, this mechanism is working nicely, to the base of the vesta it has a riged striker.
A very fine piece with a good weight to it and lots of detailing, exceptionally well made, this would make a great gift.
Fully hallmarked for sterling silver, Birmingham 1886, maker A & J Zimmerman.
