An attractive antique Georgian sterling silver travelling inkwell.

A scarce design being fully silver with no glass base as is more commonly found.

It is a cylindrical shape with a silver screw down cap, the front is engraved with an interesting heraldic motif of an armoured arm holding a sword, the sword piercing the head of a dragon.

A very interesting heraldic crest to research.

The inkwell is fully hallmarked for the George IV era, it does not possess a town mark but is London, it has the bust of King George, lion passant and date letter for 1829, maker TW possibly Thomas Whimbush or Thomas Whitehead.

Condition:
Good used condition overall with surface wear and signs of use, there is a crack to the top of the lid and a small piece of silver absent from this area with a tiny loose section on the rim edge, see photos.

Approx measurements:
2" height
5.5" circumference
Weighs approx 60.52 grams
