A beautiful antique Georgian era, late 18th century mourning ring.

It features a beautiful circular face housing a lock of finely plaited brown hair under the original convex glazing.

The domed crystal bordered by a ring of black enamel engraved with an inscription for the departed; Eliz Seaman, Ob 22nd July 1799 Ae 68.

The ring has a wide gold band, yellow gold with warm tones and a closed back setting.

This impeccable piece of history is really what mourning jewellery has its most recognised features based upon.

From the black enamel, inscriptions and hairwork, the Georgian style of mourning jewel has retained its popularity for centuries.

It is Unmarked, tests as approx 12ct gold, higher than 10ct but less than 14ct.

It comes in the original leather bound ring box.

A true beauty.

Condition:
Good used condition overall, some age commensurate surface wear morseo to the band, some slight wear and nicks to the enamelling including a small chip at 5 o clock.
