This charming antique George IV Mourning ring is simply beautiful!
At first glance it doesn't appear as a mourning piece and has a cheerful and graceful feel to it.
This has so many elements of earlier Georgian styling to it, borrowing it's design from times before with the central lustrous Amethyst bejewelled with a halo of creamy seed pearls.
The amethyst is a good size and has a lovely vivid hue with vibrancy and twinkle from the facets.
The reverse is engraved with a personal inscription, dated 1824 and bears full UK hallmarks though these are quite rubbed.
It has a replacement 9ct gold band, later 19th century.
A charming antique mourning ring with stacks of character.
Marks and era:
Fully hallmarked for 18ct gold, London Assay office, bust of king George, date letter rubbed, c1820s, band is a 19th century replacement and tests as 9ct gold.
Condition:
Good used condition overall, some age commensurate surface wear and signs of use, marks are worn, band is a replacement.
UK/AU ring size M
US ring size 6
EU ring size 51.87
Total weight 3.02 grams
Approx 12.3mm length ring head and 1.6mm band width at the most narrow point
