A stunning pair of antique French silver gilt lorgnettes.
Art Nouveau era, they are hallmarked for the renowned French silversmith Pierre - Jacques Meurice.
A beautifully designed pair with a textured handle with a scrolling ribbon design and a small blank cartouche that could be engraved with initials if desired.
They are folding spectacles with oval lenses which are opened with a small push clasp at the side.
Worn, usually around the neck on a ribbon or chain for ease of use, these beautiful decorative pieces really were a functional piece of jewellery.
Perfect for adding to your favourite antique chain or neck mess or wearing with a nice plain black ribbon.
Worn by both men and women at the time, these would make an impeccable gift.

Early 20th century, Art Nouveau era c1900, French boars head mark for silver, makers mark for Pierre - Jacques Meurice.
Condition:
Good used condition overall, some light surface wear commensurate with age, very light marks to the lenses, some loss of gilt, the lenses do not flip out on pressing but do snap back in place firmly.
