You can't help but be enchanted by this beautiful antique diamond star brooch.
A wonderful six point star with a Starburst design reaching out amongst the points, crafted in sterling silver on 9ct gold, there are layers upon layers of wonderful sparkling old cut diamonds in this piece.
To the centre there is a superb sparkling old European cut diamond with an estimated 0.20ct weight, this is surrounded by a mesmerising plethora of old mine cut and European old cut diamonds with an approx total weight of 1.5ct, giving this star the most alluring twinkle.
The cool crisp sterling silver enhances the colour of the diamonds wonderfully.
Stars were a very popular motif in Victorian jewellery and they still are today, they provided a symbol of guidance, light and wisdom.
This beautiful antique star brooch has a modified safety catch and pin fastener, the catch is a later addition and it also has an attached safety chain.
Could be converted to a pendant if desired but it is simply beautiful as it is.
Marks and era:
Unmarked, late 19th century, Victorian era, electronically tested as sterling silver on 9ct gold.
Condition:
Good used condition overall with signs of use and wear commensurate with age, safety chain is a later replacement, brooch clasp is a later replacement, some minor gold tones showing through the silver.
