This heavy and substantial antique gold seal fob is a real versatile beauty.
Made from 9ct yellow gold, Victorian era, it has an elaborate scrolling detailing around the top and a chunky beaded rim.
The base is set with a lush rich Carnelian matrix, carved to depict an image of Hermes, Messenger of the gods, a befitting choice for a seal, perhaps with a hidden meaning as Hermes was also known as fast, sharp and a trickster.
Hermes was also the god of trade, flocks, roads and more.
This beautiful antique seal has a 9ct gold jump ring attached so is ready to be hung from your favourite chain necklace or Albert chain, it could also be used as a very large bracelet charm.

Unmarked, 19th century, c1890s, Victorian era, tests as 9ct gold.
Condition:
Good used condition overall, signs of use and wear commensurate with age, light wear.
