This rare and unusual vintage pendant really stands out from the crowd.
It is a huge chunky pendant crafted in sterling silver with a repousse design, the silver mont holds a huge fossilised Megalodon tooth.
The tooth has natural striations and light serrations to the edge but these have worn with time and wear, it has an overall black colour.
Good examples of Megalodon teeth are hard to find today being many millions of years old and this example has been carefully mounted into this grand sterling silver setting.
It is exceptionally large and heavy and it makes for a wonderful talisman style pendant.
Marks and era:
The setting is c1970s marked 925, the tooth is a genuine fossil dating from probably around 3 million years ago.
Condition:
Good used condition overall, some age commensurate wear and signs of use, some spotting and tarnish in areas, tooth has worn smooth in most areas.
Approx measurements:
3.10" width
5.10" length including the bale
Weighs approx 172 grams
