Victorian coral mourning brooch, hairwork, 9ct gold
Victorian coral mourning brooch, hairwork, 9ct gold
A very pretty early Victorian mourning brooch with carved coral leaves and a hairwork panel, set in 9ct Rose gold.
A demure and delicate little piece, it has a central glazed panel which is set with a lock of plaited hair.
Surrounding the hair work panel are very finely engraved coral leaves in a nice rich red orange tone.
It has a closed back, set in 9ct Rose gold, an old C type clasp, the pin protruding slightly from the brooch.
Overall good used condition, age commensurate wear, some surface wear to the glass panel, tiny dent in the back gold panel, minute chips to some leaves, visible only under loupe.
