Now this a locket style that I will never tire of seeing, an impeccable antique Onyx and Pearl Mourning locket.
So rich and luxurious the body of the locket is made up from smooth, highly polished rich black onyx with a central gold motif that is set with rich creamy split pearls.
The bale is enamelled in black over the rich 9ct gold.
It is a large sized locket and quite a heavy piece, looks great added to an antique gold long chain or a yellow gold Albert chain.
To the reverse there is a locket panel, bordered in gold and glazed, currently holding a lock of light brown coloured hair, this can be removed to replace with your own special memento.
Such a beautiful piece of mourning jewellery.
Marks and era:
English make,19th century, Victorian era, unmarked tests as 9ct gold.
Condition:
Good used condition overall, some age commensurate light wear and signs of use, small nibble to the onyx on the reverse, small nick to the glass panel, locket reverse slightly loose but still holds fast.
Approx measurements:
1.20" width
2.10" length including the bale.
