This handsome antique, Victorian era
15kt gold and Black onyx signet ring has everything you could wish for in a signet ring!
It has a shield shaped face set with an inky black Onyx stone, the moody tone complementing the warm rosey gold perfectly, the stone is not engraved so could be personalised if desired.
It has chunky engraved shoulders leading on to the smooth and rich 15kt rosey gold band, the engraving has worn down on one side, meaning this was probably worn (a lot and loved!) As a pinky ring with the more engraved side being on the outer side of the hand.
The gold is a warm rosey gold, fully hallmarked and all original.
There is simply nothing to displease about this handsome antique signet ring and you won't be disappointed if you decide to make him yours!
Also stacks nicely with other rings, as shown in the image.
Signet rings derive their name from the Latin for signature, they were popular throughout history in men's jewellery and were often carved with family crests or signatures and used as stamps or intaglios, later they remained popular as a fashion choice and they have remained a popular piece of mens jewellery since their creation.
Marks and era:
Victorian era, fully hallmarked for 15ct gold, Birmingham assay office, 1900, makers mark partially rubbed.
Condition:
